Pre-K Expansion Short Term Consultant - NYC Department of Education

New York, United States Contract

Role Overview

The Mayor and the Chancellor are committed to giving every three- and four-year-old in New York City access to high-quality, full-day early childhood education. Research has shown that pre-kindergarten for three- and four-year-olds can increase student achievement and success over the long term. Every student in NYC deserves the opportunity to experience these benefits, and gain the skills and knowledge pre-K and 3-K can provide.

As part of the city’s vanguard Pre-K and 3-K for All initiatives, the Division of Early Childhood’s Expansion Team works to ensure access to these programs for three- and four-year-olds. This year alone, over 60,000 children are enrolled in 3-K and Pre-K for All, and we are excited to help even more participate in the coming years.

The Expansion Consultant will support the team through a mix of engaging with external stakeholders (e.g., principals, community-based providers), and project planning. This is a great role for someone who wants to gain experience in education and public administration.

  • Working in partnership with other teams to make recommendations on strategic projects (e.g., balancing the portfolio of pre-K and 3-K seats across schools based on a citywide analysis of demand, the supply of seats, and budget allocations)
